About

Toe Jam Holdz was originally created in Cary, North Carolina by Joey Schultz in 2013. It was sold to the current owner in 2015 when Joey decided that he wanted to dedicate his life to the Marine Corps and his family. Since then Toe Jam has marketed many holds from many different designers and we are now starting all over for a second time with a new logo, new holds and new ideas.

The current Toe Jam Holds line is working to bring shapes back to more basic roots within climbing holds that focus on the versatility of smaller, function oriented holds. All of these holds will work in large gyms or on small homewalls everywhere. Hold series like the Simp Line are training focused and great for system walls and training on home walls while other lines, like the Plush Line are still usable for training, but also have some subtle aesthetics involved in their design that make them stand out from others.

One of our favorite lines that we offer is the Homage Rails which are a tribute to the Crater screw on rails from the late 1990s and early 2000s that many setters and climbers still know to this day. The Crater screw on rails inspired me personally to become interested in routesetting and shaping climbing holds. The original rails were shaped for Crater by Louie Anderson in 1999 who states that “When Crater chose to go the screw-on route I felt that it was the perfect time to shape rails. I had been climbing on a lot of granite rails and boulders at the time and wanted to bring something like that to the industry.” He followed up by saying that “…there was nothing like them available at the time and they were quite popular. Within a few years, there were a lot of other rails available around the world. I still like the originals I shaped the best though. There was a lot of subtlety to them.” We believe that by bringing a line of screw on rails similar to the originals that it might give others the same experience that myself and so many others were fortunate enough to enjoy.
